Other than Fashion Modeling [1 Feb 2007]

Fashion modeling is the most prestigious type of modeling and the part of the modeling industry that people are most familiar with. But there are only about a dozen fashion models that have achieved truly worldwide celebrity status, and it’s not necessarily because they’re so beautiful (though they are). Fashion modeling requires very specific physical attributes. You must be tall and very thin, neither too old nor too young, and you must still have curves despite the pressure to have zero body fat.

Whether or not you make it in the fashion modeling world depends heavily on your body type. You need to be beautiful sure, but that’s not all you need to be. Knowing where you fit in the body type scheme and being honest with yourself about your chances is key. But meeting the body type isn’t the only thing you need to be able to do. You need to have a solid sense of professionalism and a good deal of self-confidence. Without these, it doesn’t matter how much like a fashion model you look, you’ll still find success just outside your reach.
